San Martin de los Andes is a small beautiful Alpine style town, located in a valley in the foothills of the Andes Mountain range and on the shore of Lacar Lake.

People compare this town with small ski villages in Switzerland, others say it just looks like Aspen 20 years ago.....

Several public access waters are available as daily fishing programs, all are a 40 minutes to 2 hours drive. With this option you will find regular wade fishing days to rivers like the Malleo, Chimehuin, Quilquihue, Meliquina, Caleufu, etc, also the chance to do float trips to different sections of Alumine, Collon Cura and Chimehuin rivers.

If you like sight fly fishing for big cruising rainbows and browns, some of the nearby lakes offer amazing fishing opportunities. The use of motorboats is limited to some lakes inside the National Park so some of the best fisheries can be accesed by float tubes, which we provide.

Winter

San Martin de los Andes life is strongly related to tourism. The main atraction during the winter are the winter-snow sports.

Chapelco ski resort is just 25 minutes away from town, so during the prime time for snow (July, August & September) this vibrant little town receives thousands of tourists.

In summer everything switches to outdoors activities related with the national parks and wilderness.

Activities such as horse back riding, treking, biking, bird watching, fishing and hunting can be eisily planned.

The famous "7 Lakes Road" that connects San Martin de los Andes to Villa La Angostura which ends at Bariloche is totally paved, is a popular corridor for many visitors who enjoy nature and unforgettable scenery.

For those who are passionate about Golf, Chapelco Golf resort is only 15 minutes away from San Martin. The course was designed Jack Nicklaus and has developed a world-wide reputation!
