COLLON CURA LODGE

Estancia Collon Cura

The Lodge

Authentic Comfort on the High Desert Steppe

Located just over an hour from Chapelco Airport and under two hours from Bariloche, in the heart of the high desert steppe, Collon Cura Lodge offers private access to some of the best sections of the Collon Cura River. Authentic, relaxed and designed with anglers in mind, it's a lodge where comfort, great fishing and genuine hospitality come together naturally.

The lodge accommodates a maximum of 10 anglers in five comfortable double rooms with private bathrooms — three in the main lodge and two in a separate guest house with its own wader room. A third building serves as the traditional quincho, where guests enjoy authentic Argentine asados throughout the week. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge.

High Desert, Big Water

Comfort, Wide Skies & Superb Fly Fishing

Days here unfold between wide desert skies and the Collon Cura's endless riffles and pools — float trips and wade fishing by day, warm hospitality and Argentine asados back at the lodge each evening.

The Fishing

Private Access to the Collon Cura River

The Collon Cura is one of the largest rivers in the area — more than 25 miles of river, plus channels and lagoons, are accessible through the lodge's estancia, reached quickly via the paved provincial road and the ranch's internal roads.

Day float trips combine time on the oars with the chance to wade too, keeping the action non-stop. Trout ranging between 14 and 22 inches will test your fly rods and reels to the limit — and from February through April, a big migration of minnows draws browns and rainbows into feeding schools, making it prime time for a trophy trout.

25+ Miles of Private Access Water

Wading and float trips access some of the best sections of the Collon Cura, plus its channels and lagoons, all within the estancia.

Wade & Float Fishing

The Collon Cura is primarily fished from a drift boat, covering long, productive runs and varied water throughout the day. When classic structures—riffles, cut-banks, side channels and gravel bars—are worth exploring more closely, we step out and wade them.

Non-Stop Action

The river fishes consistently well throughout the entire season, supported by strong hatches and special feeding events. From mid-December through late January, green worms create excellent opportunities, followed by the minnow run from February through April, when big browns and rainbows feed aggressively.

Evenings at the Lodge

Argentine Hospitality, Course by Course

Guests consistently point to the food as one of the highlights of their stay. Meals combine refined home-style cuisine with chef-inspired dishes, complemented by fresh vegetables from the lodge's own garden.

A carefully selected collection of Argentine red wines — Malbecs, blends and Cabernets from Mendoza and the Neuquen Valley — is included with every meal, and evenings begin with an open bar and appetizers by the fireplace before dinner is served.
