RIO QUILLEN LODGE

Estancia Rio Quillen

Estancia Rio Quillen

Rio Quillen Lodge is located about 2 hours north-west from Chapelco Airport, in a beautiful valley. This unique lodge, built entirely with local timber, sits on a 45,000 acre cattle ranch with an amazing view of the Quillen River.

About 8 miles of the Quillen River run through this estancia, giving private access to one of the best dry fly streams in Patagonia.

The lodge offers very cozy and spacious accommodations, including double rooms with private bathrooms, a living room, dining room and bar, all with a big balcony overlooking the entire Quillen Valley. Service is all inclusive, with excellent home-made style meals and a selection of Argentine wines, and the after-fishing bar offers snacks and drinks for those who like to gather together and enjoy a magic sunset.

A separate family cabin is normally available during early season, from November until late December (not open every year — availability is confirmed on request). It's a complete two-floor cabin with two bathrooms, three rooms upstairs and two downstairs, with a comfortable living room and dining room. All meals and drinks are provided, making it a great alternative for families with kids who may want more than just a fishing trip. Access to the river is exactly the same as staying at the main lodge, and non-fishing activities are available including horseback riding, hiking, a day at the lake and mountain biking.

Wade Fishing Only

Quillen is a medium to small sized river, with beautiful structure. Weed bed flats, riffles and cut banks with deep pools provide a variety of water that, combined with easy wading over mostly sand bottoms, makes it just perfect.

Anglers can expect 1 to 3 pound rainbows and browns, plus the chance to land a trophy brown that migrates into the river system, usually during fall.

This water is wade fishing only, catch and release.

Wade Fishing Only

The Malalco River is a pristine mountain stream that's born deep in the Andes, inside Lanin National Park. Its lower section runs through Estancia Rio Quillen, providing private access to it.

For those who like mountain hikes and the extra effort to reach some amazing sight fishing, the Malalco is a dream come true!

The ideal time to fish it goes from mid November until late December (late spring - early summer). Deep in a unique native tree forest, the Malalco does not see many anglers — it's all about hunting for nice trout holding in beautiful pools and small pockets.

"Inquire about early season special prices, usually before December 10th"
